Roofing Cost Estimator

Roof Replacement Cost Estimator

Use this calculator to get a preliminary cost range for replacing a pitched, flat, or combination roof in the Albuquerque area. The estimate is based on roof type, existing roofing material, replacement system, home size, garage size, roof layers, access, rooftop equipment, and solar-panel conditions. The result is not a binding proposal, but it is designed to give homeowners a realistic planning range before scheduling an on-site roof evaluation.

This is a proprietary estimator developed by Tate Construction using our own roofing cost assumptions, project experience, and current pricing structure. Unlike generic online calculators, it is designed around the specific roof types, materials, and project conditions we commonly see in the Albuquerque area.

The estimate provided as a result of the use of this calculator is not a binding proposal, but it is designed to give homeowners a realistic planning range before scheduling an on-site roof evaluation.

What type of roof does your home have?

A pitched roof has visibly sloped surfaces and is commonly covered with asphalt shingles, concrete or clay tile, or metal.

A flat or low-slope roof appears nearly level and is common on Pueblo- and Southwest-style homes throughout Albuquerque.

Select “Combination of pitched and flat roofs” only when the home has both a visibly pitched roof section and a flat or low-slope roof section. Do not select Combination simply because the roof has two different pitched materials or two different flat-roof materials.

Next

What roofing material is currently installed?

Select the material currently installed. This helps account for differences in removal, disposal, preparation, and replacement costs.

For combination roofs, select one pitched-roof material and one flat or low-slope roofing material.

Pitched Roof Material
Flat or Low-Slope Roof Material
Approximately what percentage of the roof is pitched?

Provide your best estimate. For example, enter 70 if most of the home has a pitched roof and a smaller addition or patio has a flat roof.

What roofing system would you like installed?

Select the roofing system you would like Tate Construction to use for the replacement. If you are not sure, select the option that seems closest and we can review the best material during the on-site roof evaluation.

Tate Construction will only patch or repair existing built-up roofing, modified bitumen, or rolled roofing systems when appropriate. For full roof replacements, these systems are replaced only with a new modern TPO, PVC, or EPDM membrane roof system.

What is the listed living area of the home?

Enter the approximate living area shown on Zillow, Realtor.com, county property records, an appraisal, or your purchase documents. Do not add the garage; the estimator accounts for it separately.

Does the home have a garage?

How many layers of roofing are currently installed?

Most homes have one layer. Select “I’m not sure” if you do not know.

How many separate roof levels does the home have?

Count distinct roof elevations, such as a lower garage roof, patio roof, addition, or second-story roof.

Is there restricted access to the home or roof?

Restricted Access may include no backyard access, limited driveway access, steep terrain, or properties where roofing materials cannot be delivered directly to the house via delivery truck.

What equipment or features are located on the roof?

Where is the property located?

Enter the address of the property where the roofing work would be performed.

Your Contact Information

    Your Preliminary Roofing Cost Range

$00,000 - $00,000*
*Does not include NM Gross Receipts Tax

This preliminary range is based on the information you provided, including the roof type, existing roofing material, replacement roofing system, home size, garage size, number of layers, access, roof levels, and rooftop equipment.

What Your Estimate Includes

  • Complete tear-off and disposal of the existing roofing material
  • Complete replacement of all roofing flashings
  • Installation of the replacement roofing system selected in the estimator
  • Standard underlayment, membrane, fastening, flashing, and accessory components per manufacturer requiresments for the selected roof system
  • Customer selection of standard manufacturer available colors
  • Applicable manufacturer material warranties
  • Tate Construction Company's two-year workmanship warranty

Material Assumptions

Asphalt shingle roof replacements are estimated using architectural shingles with synthetic underlayment and standard roofing accessories.

All pitched roofs are assumed to be either 4:12 or 5:12 pitch (most common pitch types)

Concrete or clay tile roof replacements assume the home already has, or can support, a tile roofing system. Structural conditions must be verified before final pricing.

Metal roof replacements are estimated using 26-gauge ribbed steel panels with standard trim, flashing, and fastening details.

Existing built-up roofing, modified bitumen, or rolled roofing systems are estimated as conversion to the selected replacement membrane system. Tate Construction may patch or repair these systems in kind when appropriate, but full replacements are estimated using modern membrane roofing systems.

TPO, PVC, and EPDM membrane roof replacements are estimated using 60-mil membrane systems with standard membrane flashing and accessory components.

Solar panel removal and reinstallation are included based on the option selected. Final pricing may require adjustment if the system uses an unusually large number of roof-penetrating stanchions, nonstandard mounting assemblies, or mounting conditions that require extensive individual flashing and waterproofing.

Field Conditions that May Affect
Final Pricing

Most projects should remain within the displayed range. Final pricing would be revised only if the on-site evaluation identifies significant conditions that were not included in, or could not reasonably be determined from, the information entered into the estimator.

  • Damaged or deteriorated roof decking
  • Square footage of the home is materially different from the information entered
  • Inadequate drains or roof slopes
  • Hazardous materials or specialized removal and handling requirements
  • This preliminary range does not include applicable New Mexico gross receipts tax. Gross receipts tax will be calculated based on the project location and shown separately in the written proposal.

Solar-panel removal and reinstallation are included, including any electrical work required. Flashing of penetrations are EXCLUDED from pricing. Quantity of solar stanchions must be field counted, flashing of penetrations for solar stanchions are to be added at $50/ea.

This estimate is valid only when the existing roof is already concrete or clay tile. Due to the extreme weight of tile systems, conversion from a lighter roofing system to tile requires separate structural evaluation and is not included.

Your estimate assumes removal of the existing built-up roofing system and replacement with a new TPO roof. Tate Construction may patch existing built-up and modified-bitumen roofing but does not install these systems as complete new roof replacements.

Confirm Your Roofing Estimate

The next step is an on-site roof evaluation. Tate Construction will verify the roof measurements and existing conditions, review material options with you, and provide a written proposal.

This calculator provides a preliminary planning range based on customer-provided information and standard assumptions. It is not a contract or binding proposal. Final pricing is confirmed after an on-site inspection and agreement on the final scope of work.
